So doing "nothing" isn't working anymore haha (shocking I know!). I have plateaued with my weight and so in addition to a mostly healthy diet I have added hitting the gym. Juggling a full time job, night school & a busy toddler is tough and finding time for going to the gym is nearly impossible but I am crazy enough to try it. My husband and I go on the weekends when my mom can watch our daughter, then during the week we work out at home. The home workouts are nowhere near as intense as the ones with our trainer...but always better than nothing right?
At home, we bought some punching gloves and punch pads and those are a lot of fun to use. It gets out any frustrations from a bad day at the office and it's a fun way to exercise together. Something else I have learned to appreciate is the plank. The plank is an awesome core exercise and better than just your average crunch/sit-up because it provides more three-dimensional activation, from hip to shoulder, whereas the crunch is an isolated move that hits just your abs. Planks not only strengthen the core, but also the shoulders and hips—and you can improve your balance if you do variations with your arm or leg. The problem is that the plank is surprisingly difficult to hold but I found this gem on Pinterest...the 30 day plank challenge. Seems easy enough...so I'm going to try it. Why not try it with me?
